ScanPilot is provided by Gsinn Stefan (“we”). This policy explains how the iPhone app handles information. It is written for GDPR and Apple App Store requirements.
Summary
ScanPilot does not create an account, does not include advertising or tracking, and does not send your documents to our servers. Scanning, OCR, and filing happen on your iPhone. Files are written only to the folder you choose.
Who is responsible
Controller: Gsinn Stefan.

What the app uses on your device
- Camera. Used only to photograph documents when you tap capture. Frames are processed on the device. We do not upload camera images.
- Photos. You may import images you pick. ScanPilot does not browse your whole library.
- Files. You choose a save folder. ScanPilot stores a local bookmark on the iPhone so it can write PDF or PNG files there. If you pick iCloud Drive or another cloud folder, those files follow that service’s rules, not ours.
- On-device OCR. Text recognition (German and English) runs with Apple Vision on the iPhone. Detected type, sender, and date are used to name files and folders you create.
- Settings. Preferences such as save format, types, senders, and the folder bookmark are stored in UserDefaults on the device.
Data we collect
We do not collect personal data on our own servers. We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, crash reporters, or third-party login.
Legal basis (GDPR)
Processing on your device is necessary to provide the scanner you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for optional camera/photo access, your consent via the iOS permission dialog (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw camera or photos access in iOS Settings. The app will still allow import from Files where possible.
Retention
Scanned files remain in the folder you chose until you delete them. App settings remain until you delete the app or clear them in ScanPilot. We do not keep a copy.
Sharing
We do not sell or share your documents. Apple may process App Store purchase data under Apple’s terms. If you save into a third-party folder (for example iCloud Drive), that provider is responsible for that storage.
Children
ScanPilot is a general productivity app and is not directed at children under 16.
Your rights
Because we do not store your documents, there is no profile on our side to access or delete. You can delete scans in the Files app and remove ScanPilot to delete local settings. You may contact us via GitHub Issues. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Germany: the authority of your federal state, or the BfDI).
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and this page.
